Monday, 10 November 2025 10:17

As part of the annual Green Economy Forum, a roundtable discussion titled “Promoting Sustainable Tourism and Reducing the Carbon Footprint” was held on November 6 in Kara-Oy village, Issyk-Kul region.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Issyk-Kul region, and KATO, with the support of international partners — GIZ, the European Union, Switzerland, and the OSCE.

Participants discussed practical measures to expand access to green financing, introduce energy-efficient technologies, and promote environmentally responsible initiatives in the regions. Following the discussion, a resolution was adopted, with several proposals to be reviewed by the Regional Investment Council in the Issyk-Kul region.

The roundtable brought together representatives of government agencies, international partners, and the business community, including Cholpon Asakeeva, PPP expert of the Secretariat of the Business and Investments Development Council under the Cabinet of Ministers, and Chyngyz Namazaliev, Head of the Secretariat of the Regional Investment Council in the Issyk-Kul region.

The partnership between the state and business plays a key role in advancing green technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and sustainable tourism. We emphasized the importance of workforce development, integration of green standards into regional programs, and expanding entrepreneurs’ access to green financing.

Particular attention was given to Chyngyz Namazaliev’s proposal to develop a support system for private entrepreneurs and investors implementing green technologies in the tourism sector — as one of the mechanisms for promoting environmentally sustainable initiatives in the region.

The Council’s Secretariat continues to promote open dialogue between the state and business, creating conditions for sustainable development and strengthening the green economy in the regions.
