Investment Council Meeting

On April 5, 2024, under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic / Chairman of the Investment Council, Akylbek Zhaparov Usenbekovich, the next meeting of the Investment Council was held at the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of representatives from business associations, government structures, development funds, state banks, international organizations, and the Secretariat of the Investment Council.

The agenda included a number of important issues, including:

  • Reports from development funds and state banks on the work carried out and plans for 2024 - State Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, Open Joint Stock Company "Ayil Bank", Open Joint Stock Company "RSK Bank", Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, and Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund;
  • On the catalog of investment projects;
  • On the Work Plan of the Investment Council for 2024.

"The heads of development funds and state banks are required to attract new investments to the state, introduce new standards. Each of you works on projects in different sectors, but at the same time, can fully solve the problem of one sector. For this, you all need to decide which sector is lagging, for example, if financing projects for chicken meat production, there will be no issues in this sector, and import volumes will decrease," said Akylbek Zhaparov.

The Secretary of the Council, Uluk Kydyrbaev Asankaryevich, shared that as part of the directive on the development of regional councils, on April 12, a meeting of the Regional Investment Council under the Authorized Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Osh region will take place. It will bring together representatives of the public and private sectors to discuss the current and future economic progress of the region.

Meeting with the Minister for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission

On March 29, 2024, a working meeting took place at the Secretariat of the Investment Council between the Head of the Secretariat, Uluk Kydyrbaev, and the Minister for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Eldar Alisherov. During the meeting, Uluk Kydyrbaev congratulated the minister on the completion of the activities related to the improvement and material-technical equipment of the border crossing points, as envisaged by the Protocol on the Conditions and Transitional Provisions in connection with the accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The parties also discussed possible mechanisms for cooperation between the EEC and the Secretariat of the Investment Council on issues arising for entrepreneurs, as well as on improving the business environment and investment climate within the EAEU.

Launch of Economic Journalism

Launch of Economic Journalism

Dear friends,
On March 29th, we held our first introductory meeting as part of the economic journalism initiative focused on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). This informal gathering brought together journalists from the economic news sphere, representatives from the PPP Center, and an invited independent expert. Together, we discussed the importance and prospects of PPPs in the context of sustainable development and the investment appeal of our country.
The meeting shed light on the key aspects of PPPs, including the advantages and challenges faced by project participants. We also looked at real cases demonstrating the successful application of PPPs across various economic sectors.
The discussion confirmed a significant interest in the topic of PPPs among the journalistic community and emphasized the important role of the media in informing the public about the benefits and opportunities offered by public-private partnerships.
From the PPP Center, the participants included:
Karatay Jangeldiev - Head of the Department for Attraction and Preparation of PPP Projects,
Sanzhar Mombekov - Senior Expert of the Department for Attraction and Preparation of PPP Projects,
Ak Maral Ismailova - Expert of the Department for Promotion and Implementation of PPP Projects.
Additionally, Professor Won-Gyu Hwang from South Korea participated as an independent expert.
We thank the representatives of the PPP Center for their participation and all the journalists for their active involvement and valuable insights. This is only the first step in our joint journey to expand the horizons of economic journalism. We hope that our subsequent meetings will be just as interesting and informative.
